The Simmons Building was built in 1912. The two-storey brick heritage building is best known for its long association with Simmons Canada – a national bedding manufacturer. During World War II. One of the last remaining buildings of its kind in the city, the Simmons commemorates the light industry that once thrived in downtown Calgary.  The first step: careful restorations that bring The Simmons up to 21st-century specs while preserving as many historical elements as possible. These elements include solid fir post and beams, restoration of the historic brick façade and repair and restoration of the historic windows and doors, hardwood flooring and unique historical elements of the building.  The second phase introduced new mechanical and electrical systems, flood mitigation, restoration of the brick facades and new structural openings between floors to amplify the post and beam construction.
