Mathison Hall is founded on the idea of creating integrated, flexible and sustainable learning spaces. The new building offers a dynamic addition to the existing business school campus. An elegant pavilion is created with a unique articulating façade which opens up into a large central atrium space natural lit through a series of clerestory windows. The atrium creates a central spine that runs through the building creating a public circulation artery connecting all of the major program elements. The atrium also connects the new Mathison Hall with the existing Scurfield Hall, enhancing the student experience through consolidation of teaching, learning and social activities.
Mathison Hall is designed to be at the forefront of sustainable architecture and is the University’s second building designed to meet CaCBC’s Zero Carbon Building Standard and achieving LEED Platinum designation.
